About Us

With a collective vision of following through on Davy Jones’ (lead singer of The Monkees) dream of a Monkees cultural artifacts museum for fans, Mick Lawless and Kat McCabe have converted a 2,000-square-foot climate-controlled building into The Underground Frodis Adventure.

Kat started actively collecting in 2000, having met all four of The Monkees personally. Most of the over 400 autographs in the museum were obtained personally. Kat was featured on the TV show Collector’s Call in 2023, hosted by Lisa Welchel.

Mick has deeply-woven ties to the fabric of Monkees culture, playing both as a musician with his 20-year band Loose Salute, a tribute to Monkees member Micheal Nesmith; and is a DJ on the internet radio station, Monkee Mania Radio, broadcasting his show, The Frodis Room, weekly, via the Live 365 app.

A 1997 official tour hat, along with a 1967 officially-licensed Monkees beret.

One of our most prized and featured items is the Thorkelson family-owned piano (pictured above), purchased from the Thorkelson family in 2020. This is the piano Peter Tork learned to play on inside his home before he left Storrs, Connecticut to seek his calling as an entertainer.

Did you know that Micky Dolenz was a child actor at the age of 10 years old? He starred in Circus Boy, a family western series set in the 1890s. We have many items of memorabilia from this early stage of Dolenz's career; pictured above is a vintage comic book featuring young Micky, as well as an authentic Circus Boy toy cap, circa 1956, in mint condition.

A Grand Opening

The Underground Frodis Adventure officially opened September 1st, 2024 with a fan party event. The unveiling took place with a multitude of Monkees fans in attendance, including the man sometimes known as the fifth Monkee, singer-songwriter and session man, Bill Chadwick.

Events

The Next Event: May 24th, 2026!
The next event at The Underground Frodis Adventure will take place on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, and will feature live music from Zilch and Mick Lawless!

Coming Up in September, Labor Day Weekend: M60!

M60 is a convention for fans of The Monkees to come together and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first airing of the first Monkees episode! On Saturday, September 5th, there will be a full day and night of bands, guests, vendors, and so much more at The Clarion Inn North Haven Hotel, 201 Washington Avenue, North Haven CT.
The next day, September 6th, there will be a gala held here at The Underground Frodis Adventure!
